Dream big, but start small.
I have to keep myself reigned in and instead of “buying the farm and the kitchen sink” I need to remember to take things one step at a time.
Step 1: Buy a new house! (Only after selling our first home, getting ready to buy a home in an Eugene neighborhood, deciding not to move to Oregon, accepting a new job in Hamilton and finally finding the perfect home in Stevensville!) This first step seemed like an impossible wish. Sometimes life is extra tricky and I was preparing myself to let it all go and find a different dream.
I am thrilled to say that against all possibilities of the way things could have worked out we have purchased another home on farm land in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley and in October we get to move in!
This crazy goat lady’s dream of being surrounded by all sorts of 4-legged farm animals and a menagerie of farm fowl need not die. Can I get a Yee-Haw!
I lie awake at night not with visions of sugar-plums, but of construction plans. Plans of grand Pygmy Goat and Juliana Pot-Bellied Pigs (or Kune Kune pigs, I haven’t narrowed it down yet) play enclosures and a new chicken coop and goose and duck pond! My farm girl dream is expanding exponentially and I am hoping and praying to be able to open a small-scale ‘Mini Farm’. I want to raise and offer to sell registered Pygmy Goats and “Mini” Pot-Bellied Pigs (the term ‘mini’ is used relative when talking pigs, anything smaller than a farm hog is considered a mini!) and in time I’d love to also raise Baby Doll Sheep and miniature donkeys. I also hope to offer chicken and duck eggs and garden-fresh vegetables for sale during the summer months. I am giddy with excitement at the thought of it all.
Step 2: Getting my Husband On-Board! 🙂
