{Farmlife Fragments} One Dot & Shiny

Spring time is for baby animals. With our big move just weeks away, this spring there was a certain sadness lingering around our place knowing that if we found ourselves in the feed store the agony of not picking up and keeping a couple new chicks or a new goose would be almost too much.

Well, against my best effort to avoid the situation, we did find ourselves in the feed store with our tiny, adorable chicken lover. We did hold them and kiss on them and Landon reminded me that, “It is okay to kiss baby chickies, but not grizzly bears.”

I was a brick wall. I wasn’t even thinking about just getting a couple. There were no baby geese this time, which helped. Then Daddy walked up and said, “well, aren’t you going to choose a couple?”

Without a moments hesitation Landon chose two new baby chicks, one for him and one for his sissy. Two Polish Top Hats — One Dot and Shiny.

It is hard to put into words the love Landon has for animals, but baby chicks are something special to him. He is so extremely gentle and loving. He cares about their well-being, looks after them so closely and is very protective. When outside he wraps his arms or body around them creating a protective nest. They get a lot of attention and a lot of affection.
