Christmas Eve

It looks the same each year. They are just a little taller. The tripod captures fake smiles and looks of dread as I force them to stand still over and over until we capture an image that is at the very least not blurry! But we are together and it is that that I want to freeze.

She proudly holds the candle up to Jesus and beautifully sings Silent Night, which now she can read the lyrics on the screen. With pure heart she honors Jesus. I love Christmas Eve service, and so does she. Landon, almost immediately fell asleep in daddy’s arms, amidst his excitement of the promise to hold a real flame in his destructive, little hands!

I was not in the mood to cook big meals this Christmas, that was evident in the huge flop of a Christmas dinner! We made Christmas Eve calzones.

The one present on Christmas Eve isn’t a surprise for her anymore. It is always new jammies!

“Santa jammies? Oh, barnacles.”
