an anniversary celebration | 10 years married | 15 years in love
With the kids in Grandma and Grandpa Powell’s care, we headed for the coast. The islands might be my favorite place to visit. Laid back, beautiful, abundant nature and beauty. It is slow there. We could feel every moment and breathe in each other. Every moment was perfect. The icing on top — the whale watching boat trip where we actually saw real live wild Orcas. I’ve waited so long to witness them. I cried. He thanked me for not jumping ship to swim with them!
It was a very special time together. Yummy food, laughter, walks in the woods and quiet time.
An Orca Song
In my heart lives a song. A song from a far off land. A song I am not completly familiar with, yet I know it well. I only hear this song when no other sound in present, only when all is calm and silent. When the sun breaks through a dark cloud or when my soul is in pain. This song calls to me, begs me, beckons me for me to come. Since I was a child the ocean and the mammals that live in the ocean have called out to me in ways I still cannot explain. Part of my heart was formed from the salty sea and as much as I need the wide open space of the Big Sky, I also need they chilly, sticky coastlines. For it is there that this song originates. It is there that I am called to get to know. It is there that part of me is home.
